May 18 – June 30, 2012 //  BUY ART | a fundraiser

Tarnish&Gold celebrated its 2nd anniversary over Art-A-Whirl weekend; BUY ART featured 40 local artists, exhibiting 90 distinct pieces; each for $100 or less.  Late submission deadline made for an exciting turn-out; old friends pulled our heart-strings [namely, Paige Guggemos’ Little Brother], newcomers were equally impressive, and T&G was overwhelmed with submissions from our favorite local artists [Torey Bonar, Scott Seekins, Amina Harper, and Sara Syverhus just to name a few…]!  Special thanks to the 20+ artists who had never shown before- great job!

THANK YOU t

T&G was honored to work with the following reputable artists for the first time: Scott Seekins, Jamee Varda, Steven Lang, and Amina Harper.

March 9 – March 31, 2012 // Rough Draft | Sketches + beginnings by Chuck U & Lizardman (Rogue Citizen)

This unique show provides a rare glimpse into the creative process of local artists, Chuck U and Matt Wells.

While many are familiar with Chuck’s surreal and curious apes or Wells’ ominous biomechanical characters, few are given the chance to see how these icons were developed. ‘Rough Draft’ features original sketches and ink on paper work, allowing the rest of us to see a part of the process they generally keep private.

Some of us want to live off our art.  Some of us know, or decide, that we aren’t going to do that.  We haven’t lived off it for years, so we know what it takes to work a job.  Like so many people in the city we have jobs that dictate a large part of our daily lives.  Yet we still produce art.  We have the time, I have the time, she has the time, he has the time, you have the time to create something.  Just create something.  Doesn’t matter what it is, just go for it.  Doesn’t matter who sees it.  You still did it.  That’s what we’re doing.  That’s what this show’s about.
