Amy Casey’s dreams mimic one another in a single theme- apocalypse. These nightmares, the blood filled veins of her work’s flesh, grant an arching theme to her paintings. Rather than create regurgitations of a dream, she rather channels their ideas: panic, disaster, fiasco. In short, Amy illuminates the discarded mantra of poor Chicken Little, “The sky is falling!”
Despite an appealing undertone of unnerving movement, her illustrations embody a playfulness relevant to a children’s picture book. She is fascinated by urban landscapes and the ability to alter her own artful world, both obsessions quite apparent in her mesmerizing “mark making.” Her home base is here.
